Enterprise audits

What are enterprise audits?

An enterprise energy audit, also known as an energy efficiency audit, is a comprehensive energy analysis that identifies areas of potential savings and CO₂ emissions reductions. As part of the audit, we assess energy consumption throughout the enterprise, taking into account operational needs, production processes, and the technical condition of the infrastructure. The audit helps to understand current energy use and identifies potential areas for improvement, which is the first step towards transitioning to more sustainable operations.

Is an energy audit necessary?

An enterprise energy audit is a mandatory analysis that all large enterprises must conduct every 4 years according to the Act of May 20, 2016, on energy efficiency.

A large enterprise is a company that, in the last two financial years, has met at least one of the following conditions:

  • Averaged at least 250 employees per year, or
  • Has achieved an annual net income from sales of goods, products, services, and financial operations exceeding the equivalent of 50 million euros in PLN, while the total assets on the balance sheet at the end of one of these years exceeded the equivalent of 43 million euros in PLN.

Expert Opinion

Enterprise energy audits are gaining importance due to the requirements of EU directives and increasing expectations related to ESG reporting. More than 90% of commercial buildings in Poland may require modernization to meet EU standards by 2030.

Conducting an audit allows companies to:

  • reduce operational costs by identifying energy-intensive processes,
  • improve compliance with regulations, which is crucial in the context of the EU Taxonomy and required ESG reports,
  • increase competitiveness by implementing sustainable practices, which attracts investors and customers.
